The Quilt Barn Trail
We now have 27 brightly painted "Quilt squares" on some of our very iconic barns and other appropriate buildings throughout Vinton County. These were designed with help from our local Country Roads Quilt Guild, and painted by nearly 1000 visitors to events throughout Vinton County during the past year
You can pick up a beautiful Trail Guide at Ravenwood Castle, our Historic Host vacation rentals, the Convention & Visitors Bureau in downtown McArthur (http://www.vintoncountytravel.com/ ) and several other locations throughout the region. Each quilt pattern has a connection with the farm or the family who owns the barn; and there are three separate driving loops through scenic back roads that take in not only a number of the barns, but also a covered bridge or two and one or more of our State Parks.
'Quilt Barns' are a recent tradition all over southern Ohio and a number of other states. Eventually, these will be linked together to form a "Clothesline of Quilts," offering travelers an opportunity for relaxing, scenic drives throughout the countryside.
A couple of nights at Ravenwood or a Historic Host will be a most convenient place from which to drive the Quilt Barn Trails. And, we'll start you off with a good breakfast before you go!
